This will be the fifteenth year of the Linslade Canal Festival which has become one of the biggest events in Linslade and Leighton Buzzard.
The 2017 Leighton Buzzard Canal Festival will be held on Saturday 29 July from 11am to 5pm at Tiddenfoot Waterside Park, Mentmore Road, Linslade.
Tiddenfoot is a great location for the festival, the park runs alongside the canal so you can walk between the boats and the craft stalls. The stalls are spread throughout the trees at the edge of the lake in the centre of the park. There is a bridge from the park over the canal to the towpath. The field at the top of the park on Mentmore Road side, opposite to the canal has children’s rides, live entertainment, exhibitions and stalls.
Tiddenfoot Waterside Park is a beautiful place for a stroll around the lake at any time but it really comes to life during the festival
Amble along the canal towpath and take a look at the many boats that arrive for the event. Keep a look out for boats selling traditional crafts, artwork, cheeses and of course the Sweet Boat.
There will be a large selection of stalls selling all types of crafts from ceramics and jewellery to hand turned wood items. Local organisations will be promoting their groups and charities will once again be looking for your support with their fundraising activities. There will be demonstrations of traditional rural crafts and a selection of food and drink stalls.
If the weather is good and if you live close enough, why not take the opportunity to stroll along the canal to get to the festival. You can join the towpath at Tesco and it should only take you about 20 minutes or you can join the towpath at Black Bridge which is adjacent to Tiddenfoot Water Park. Black Bridge is on the path that follows the disused Dunstable railway line which can be accessed from Grovebury Road or Mentmore Gardens.
Linslade Canal Festival is sponsored by Central Bedfordshire Council and the Canal and River Trust.
