Leighton Buzzard Carnival

The annual Leighton Linslade Carnival takes place on Saturday 8 July 2017.

The procession of floats through the town will leave Cedars School in Mentmore Road at about 12 noon then follow the route: Mentmore Road, Wing Road, Leighton Road, West Street, Leston Road, Hockliffe Street, Hockliffe Road, Brooklands Drive, Brooklands Avenue, Stanbridge Road, Lake Street, Grove Road, Parsons Close Recreation Ground.

After the procession, the carnival floats will assemble in Parsons Close Recreation Ground where there will be an arena for events plus fairground rides, trade stalls, community stalls, displays, food and much more.

It’s hard to believe the carnival has been an annual event for over 60 years and thousands of Leighton Buzzard residents will have attended at least one and many will have attended more.

The Leighton Linslade Carnival Committee has a great website containing a fascinating selection of photographs of the Leighton Buzzard Carnival dating back to 1924. There are great photos from the 50, and 60’s including photographs of carnival princesses over the years.

This is a great family day, the kids can watch the float procession try the fairground rides meet friends and neighbours. This is also a great fundraising day helping support local charities.
