Leighton Buzzard Carnival 2012

Leighton Buzzard Carnival 2012
The 2012 Leighton Linslade Carnival took place on Saturday 14 July.

The theme this year was the Diamond Jubilee but with an emphasis on the history of Leighton Buzzard and Linslade between 1952 to 2012 and was called Leighton-Linslade’s Diamond Years.
It was a grey day which started off wet but the rain stopped in the morning so although overcast nobody on the floats got really wet. In fact in the afternoon the sun actually appeared and it turned into a nice evening.

As some of the large float trucks entered Parsons Close recreation ground their wheels started to spin on the waterlogged grass but it was not a real problem. There was a back-up plan to park the floats in Grovebury Road near the Scout Hut if it was too wet for the rec but in the end this was not needed.

The procession of floats left Cedars School in Mentmore Road at 12 noon and followed the route: Mentmore Road, Wing Road, Leighton Road, West Street, Leston Road, Hockliffe Street, Hockliffe Road, Brooklands Drive, Brooklands Avenue, Stanbridge Road, Lake Street, Grove Road ending up in Parsons Close Recreation Ground.

This was a great day with lots to do including: fairground rides, live music, dancing displays, Segway rides and much more.
