The town council is responsible for the following - Allotments, Dog bins (in Town Council owned parks), Cemeteries, Litter bins (in Town Council owned parks), Parks and Gardens, Play Areas (some are managed by South Beds District Council), Special Events, Town Twinning and Youth provision (TACTIC Teenage Advice and Information Centre).

Leighton-Linslade is linked with Coulommiers, a town situated approximately 37 miles east of Paris, France and Titisee-Neustadt, which is situated in the Black Forest in Germany

Refuse collection & disposal
Wheelie bins are provided by the council to householders. Each household is supplied three bins:
Black - for general waste
Green - for garden waste
Orange - for recycling (paper, plastics, cans etc)

Items not suitable for the doorstep collection may be taken to the Tidy Tip which is situated at Shenly Hill (between Heath Road and Vandyke Road). This is open 7 days a week between 9am and 5 pm. From 1st May until 31st August the hours are extended until 7pm.
